Bright Stars is an enchanting room for our 3 – 4 years olds who are ready to learn new skills. The room can accommodate up to 12 children and the ratio of staff to children is 1:8.
The room is set up to promote children becoming independent and encouraging them to be more focused upon their learning of new skills in areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Prime Areas & Specific Areas of the EYFS will continue to be encouraged as they begin to develop more skills for independence, further their language development and learn turn taking skills.
In Bright Stars, children begin to learn about phonics, quantities in numbers and recognising the letters of the alphabet for their names. Children will begin to identify shapes, colours and patterns in their everyday learning.
As learning new skills becomes more a part of the child’s life through play, interaction with their key persons, story times, singing, counting games and with the use of equipment and resources, children will be stimulated and engaged each day.
Children will be encouraged to learn outdoors through physical play and games that encourage playing together and sharing.
Parents can support their child’s development through supporting the child’s next steps in learning that has been identified by the child’s key person.
Children will be encouraged to take the responsibility of carrying out small tasks and to become more independent and patient by having to take turns and learning to share.
The only medication that will be administered to children will be for life long conditions such as asthma, allergies, diabetes, EPI pen etc. No Calpol, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol or Anti-Biotics will be administered as these are for short term illnesses and a poorly child should be kept at home to prevent the spread of infections. If a child becomes poorly at nursery, parent(s) will be contacted in order for them to collect the child as soon as possible or for an alternative person to collect the child. Please refrain from bringing a sick child into nursery.
