The staff members at the nursery provide a warm, nurturing and fun environment for the children where they learn through play and thrive from care.
Children should enjoy their time at nursery. At WRDN we ensure that children enjoy learning and preparing for school, WRDN offers the highest quality of education.
The nursery uses the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a government framework for learning, in order to Plan, Observe and Assess a child’s development and welcomes information from parent/carers about the ability of the child and observations that have been noted at home. Its purpose is to provide all children with the best possible learning opportunities and experience to help each child reach their full potential.
The EYFS is grouped into 7 areas of learning, as follows:
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Mathematics
- Literacy
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Arts & Design
Children are encouraged to learn with enjoyment and challenge through the provision of well-planned play experiences.
Learning journeys
Each child will have ‘individual learning profiles’ which enables staff to record and monitor their achievements in each of the 7 areas. Children also have a ‘All About Me’ book which captures their learning experiences whilst at nursery through photographs and the children’s achievements.
