Welcome to our friendly and caring baby room which caters for up to 12 children aged between 3 months to 2 years old. The ratio of staff to children is 1:3 which allows time for one to one, key group and the whole group to interact and build positive relationships together. Staff members are well experienced in providing high quality of care for very young children through nurturing and interactive play throughout the day. Children respond well to the close relationships that they develop with their key persons and they enjoy a day of fun filled activities with resources that they are able to explore freely.
The room is bright, colourful and very spacious with lots of fun activities that are planned each day which enable children to explore through sensory and messy play. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the curriculum that is followed in nursery before the children go to school. At this stage, the focus of learning for each child will vary due to their individual needs and developmental stages. The most significant learning for children at this age will be within the Prime Areas of the EYFS which is based upon the Physical Development, Communication & Language and Personal, Social and Emotional Development of the children. The other areas that are known as the Specific Areas of learning are Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts & Designs which is incorporated in learning through daily planned activities.
Children’s individual needs are met through Parents working in close Partnership with the nursery and their child’s key person to ensure that any dietary needs, religious festivals and medical needs are met. Parents are encouraged to share information about their child’s development so that this can be included within their child’s learning and development whilst they are at nursery.
Parents will need to provide formula milk, nappies, wipes and a spare change of clothes for their child when they attend nursery.
The only medication that will be administered to children will be for life long conditions such as asthma, allergies, diabetes, EPI pens etc. No Calpol, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol or Anti-Biotics will be administered as these are for short term illnesses and a poorly child should be kept at home to prevent the spread of infections. If a child becomes poorly at nursery, parent(s) will be contacted in order for them to collect the child as soon as possible or for an alternative person to collect the child. Please refrain from bringing a sick child into nursery.
